Ceasing the activities of terrorist organizations involved in drug trafficking in MENA
About the Committee
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) committee convenes to address the critical issue of “Ceasing the activities of terrorist organizations involved in drug trafficking in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).” This committee focuses on the growing nexus between terrorism and the illicit drug trade, where armed groups exploit trafficking networks to finance their operations and expand their influence.Participants will examine the structure, funding mechanisms, and regional impact of such organizations, as well as the challenges faced by states in combating these interconnected threats. The committee will explore international legal frameworks, counter-terrorism strategies, and anti-narcotics efforts, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation, intelligence sharing, and capacity-building.Delegates will also assess the humanitarian, economic, and security consequences of drug trafficking and terrorism in the MENA region, including their effects on governance, stability, and civilian populations. Through diplomatic negotiation and policy development, participants will work towards comprehensive solutions aimed at dismantling these networks, strengthening state resilience, and promoting long-term regional security.
